THREADS

There are different sewing threads available for the varying sewing techniques. Generally a fine thread is used for applique and piecing patchwork, so as not to increase the bulk in the seam allowances, and a thicker thread for quilting.

Therefore we have split these into different groups from which you may select the colour and type of your preference.

Gutermann Sew-All threads are polyester and definitely for machine use. Many people use them for patchwork and quilting quite happily but they are used more widely for general machine sewing. There is a school of thought that feels that the thread used for patchwork should not be stronger than the fabric and the Gutermann Sew-All thread is certainly reliable and strong. In the end it comes down to preference and you will discover which threads you are comfortable using.
