Patchwork is About Designing and Creating a Combination of Colour and Form
Consider what you would like the end result to be. Should it be bold and striking or
intricate and pastel?
Who is the project for? It is good to tailor the quilt, wall hanging, cushion or throw to
whomever it is for. It obviously helps for the colour and style to compliment the
character and nature of the person for whom it is being made.
With thought and consideration a project can develop a character of its own. Certain
colours convey different feelings. A room painted black would have an entirely different
atmosphere to one painted in a sunny yellow hue and this is the same with patchwork.
A patchwork quilt is not just the sum of the pieces but much more because it is about the
combination or relationship of the colour and form.
Most importantly – patchwork should be enjoyed.
